FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The short answer is yes.

More studies have shown that amongst the present users of Floating Centers who suffer from claustrophobia up to 90% do not feel triggered when they are laying in the float pod.

This is due to the human nature of automatically relaxing when we are in a calm and peaceful environment which the float pod and the room reflects.

It is important to note that you are in full control of the environment when you are inside the float pod.

The float pod is quite spacious and there is a ventilator equipet for fresh air.

Optionally you can try with the lid a little open or having the lights on if you think it will be too claustrophobic.

We manually clean the float pods after every customer and check the PH-value of the water. The water automatically goes through a high quality inbuilt water filtering system which cleanses the water thoroughly 3 times between each session.

The filter purifies the water on a nano-level and removes particles that are 100 times smaller than a strand of hair.

The salt in the pod also works as a natural disinfectant.

It is always required that our guests take a shower before a float session.

Float pods have been in use for more than 60 years and there has not been even one case where a user has been sick from staying in the pod.

No, you can not.

You can safely fall asleep inside the float pod.

The reason people think that it is dangerous to fall asleep is the fear of rolling over.

The high content of salt makes you float so you should not be afraid to let your body fully relax during the session.

If you want the optimal effect of what floating has to offer then the answer is yes.

To us floating is not a one time thing, just like the experience never gets fully complete.

There are several scientific studies which show that floating has an accumulating effect on the body.

If you float for a specific reason (for example for pain relief) then it often does not take more than one or two floats before you feel the effect.

Yes you can float if you are pregnant.

During the float session you can experience relief from the pressure and weight that the fetus is usually putting on the body. This can have a very pleasant effect on the pregnant woman who normally is under a lot of physical pressure.

There are many reports from pregnant women who have attained a very intimate connection with the fetus during a float session.

Of course we recommend that you speak with your doctor and midwife before booking.

We highly recommend not consuming any stimulating substances such as coffee or nicotine before a float.

Also to not shave or wax because the salt can make this quite painful.

By eating a small meal around 60-90 minutes before your session you can avoid hunger to distract you from your float.

Also we recommend you to not drink too much liquid so you do not have to feel the need to use the bathroom while floating.

We also recommend that you read our text “Before your first float” so you are well prepared.

Yes you can, as long as you follow the same procedure as when you are entering a swimming pool. So tampons or menstrual cups are your friend here.

People who we would advise not to give floating a try are people with deep cuts, open wounds or rashes.

Also people with a contagious disease.

If you have a disorder which gives you seizures (such as epilepsy) we also do not recommend you floating.

Lastly, we do not recommend you to float if you are not able to get into and out of the float pod without assistance.

As a rule, you do not need to bring anything.

If you have long hair then we recommend you bring an elastic and your own hairbrush.

It will be a good idea to bring containers for your contact lenses so you do not get salt water on them.

Other than that you do not need to bring anything.

Our products for the shower are organic and allergy friendly.

But you are of course always welcome to bring and use your own products.

We recommend that you do not wear anything while floating because a bathing suit and elastics can be distracting during your Float.

It is of course totally up to you what you feel like doing.

Remember that the Float Room has a door which you can lock from the inside.

A Float is normally 60 minutes long and you have the Float Room for 80 minutes in total, so you have time to take a shower before and after the session.

It is up to you if you want to stay for the entire session and you are always the one in control. If you feel like ending the session before it is over then simply open the lid and step out.

No you can not.

Your skin will not wrinkle in the water because of the epsom salt.

The epsom salt is actually beneficial for the skin which you will feel immediately after.

We can not give you a precise answer to this question because it is always a very individual experience.

Most commonly people experience peace, relaxation, deep concentration and creative thinking.

However, the experience is very much your own and we are very interested in hearing how it went for you.

Yes you can, but we recommend that you leave some time after your session so you do not need to rush out the door.

Many experience the post-Float feeling as very calm and de-stressing.

You are more than welcome to sit in our chill-out-lounge and enjoy a cup of tea afterwards.

Yes but we recommend that you leave at least 14 days from the day of coloring the hair to your floating session. This is for the sake of your hair color and also for the sake of the color not staining the water.

Yes you can. Here are 6 reasons why:

  1. There is no physical contact
  2. We clean all surfaces and handles before and after your Float.
  3. After every Float the water is cleansed 3 times through a ultrafine mechanical filter.
  4. Our Float pods contain 550kg of epsom salt which kills bacteria and viruses.. So does the UV light in the tanks. H202 is in the water in a balanced amount and this also works as a disinfectant.
  5. Everyone takes a shower before and after their session.
  6. We have made the time between Floats longer so there is no overlap.

If you have symptoms then give us a call and we will cancel your session. We can then guide you on self-care if you wish.

To keep Float Studio clean and safe for you, is our first priority.

We attach great importance to your safety and want you to feel safe with us when you float.

Furthermore the CDC (Center for Disease of Control) have stated as follows:

“There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs .

Proper operation, maintenance and disinfection of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.

“COVID-19 is not spread in water, such as float water.
